Are there any problems with authentication if I transferred Windows XP and
Office to a new PC? I plan to uninstall the applications from the old
machine.

It depends. If they are retail versions, no problem. But if they are OEM
versions, their licenses tie them permananely to the first computer they are
isntalled on, and no you may not do that.

You may transfer "Retail Versions" of Windows XP
and Microsoft Office to a new PC once you reformat
the drive of the old PC to remove the software.
However, if you have "OEM Versions", then you
cannot transfer the software to a new PC.

Assuming retail licenses (OEM licenses are not transferable),
simply remove WinXP and Office from the computer they're currently on
and install them onto the new computer. If it's been more than 120 days
since you last activated that specific Product Key, you'll most likely
be able to activate via the Internet without problem. If it's been
less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone call.

Here are the facts pertaining to activation:

I really enjoyed the post on 01/09 about 'Hector' installing XP UPGRADE on
another computer.

Unless, of course, it's been over 120 days since hardware any was
changed and/or the software has been activated. Then you "can" but MS
says you "may" not.
