I only have slow (dialup) net access at Home but have
fast (broadband cable)access at work ,

So I would prefer to download the XP Updates at work (to
Laptop) and then transfer these updates to my home PC
Later

What files actually comprise the update ?
My preference is to transfer the required file to my home
PC and then (somehow?) activate the install.
Is this feasable ?

When you get to the Windows update page, select the Personalize Windows
Update. Check the box to display Windows Update catalog. You can now
download the updates to distribute to your other computers. On the left hand
menu, you will now see the option.
