transfering outlook files from windows 98 to XP

I want to copy all of my email messages from a PC with
windows 98 & outlook express 6 onto another PC with XP
home installed. I have tried copying from
windows/identities/microsoft/outlook/*.DBX files and
pasting into XP outlook directory. However outlook will
not recognise the copied files. Any one know how to do
this please?
