I have deducted the hard drive in my computer is about to bite the
dust. I just built a new rig and had to reinstall windows losing my
data because of it. Now that I have somewhat restored all my programs
that I wanted back on. I want to be able to copy everything to the new
drive when I buy it. Is there a way to do this to copy windows and all
onto the new drive. So I won't have to do a windows reinstall and ect

Probably the best way to achieve your objective is to use a disk imaging
program such as Symantec's Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image to "clone" the
contents of your present HD to the new one when you purchase it. By so
doing, you will have an exact copy of your present HD, including the
operating system, all your programs & data - in short, *everything* that's
on your current HD. The process, using one of these disk imaging programs,
is relatively simple & straightforward.
But I'm virtually certain you don't presently have one of those disk imaging
programs available to you. If you did, you wouldn't be raising this
question.
I know you've rec'd some responses advising you to use the DOS xcopy command
and/or that xxcopy program to do what you want to do. In our experience
those programs are problematical and never seem to do what they're supposed
to do. Although some users have achieved success with them in the area in
which you're interested, we find they're awkward to use and most users give
up in frustration. We gave up using them a long time ago.
In your situation - if you purchase a retail, boxed version of your new HD
(not a "bare" OEM version), it will come with a CD that includes a disk
copying (cloning) function. The software will also be available from the HD
manufacturer's website for download. That would probably be the best way for
you to go at this point.
