I just went thru doing that with XP Home.New mother board and hard drive
from the old mach. Did not loose any info like favorites, addy's., stored
pics, and mps's although I did have em backed up to my external HD. When I
got the HD in and everything ready to go, inserted the XP disc and did a
repair installation, went pretty well, had to down load new drivers from
manufactures website for sound card, video card, ect, ect. Then spent a day
or so working out a few bugs. Good luck.
