Transfer spreadsheet problem

I have a database in Access 2000 that exports several tables to
separate sheets in a workbook - note this has worked forever thru
multiple versions of Access including this one. I am now getting the
following error,"Too many fields defined", and can't get any help for
the message. I had a problem, and had to change the import specs, but
actually increased my column and row sizes in each transfer statement
to be sure that I've got plenty of room. Range expression looks like
this: JAX!A1:L1500 - always less than 1500 rows, and column size is
truly A to J in tables. Can anyone help with what this really means..

See whether compacting the database helps.

If you're importing into an existing table, and you've been playing with
that table, the column count won't necessarily be correct until you compact.
