with out reinstalling. How to?

Get a copy of Norton Ghost or PowerQuest Drive Image
or Acronis True Image or Future Systems Solutions Casper XP.
Then do a "drive copy" from your old hard drive to the new
hard drive. This transfers a byte-for-byte image between the
hard drives - unlike file-for-file transfers which are used for
making an "image file" which is used for system backup/
restores. It may also be necessary to disconnect your old
hard drive from the system before you boot up the new
hard drive for the 1st time. (See my posting entitled
"Multi-boot Windows XP without special software".)

Software that does just that (transfer a byte-for-byte
image from one HD to another so that the OS is bootable)
are Norton "Ghost", PowerQuest "Drive Image" (version
2002 will work with WinXP), Acronis "True Image", and
Future Systems Solutions "Casper XP", and others. In my
experience with Drive Image, the transfer is to be to
unallocated space on the other disk, not to a pre-allocated
and formatted partition.
