Be aware that unless the two computers have identical hardware, except for hard drive size, you will
not be able to move your programs. You will have to use the original installation disks to
re-install your programs.

If the two computers are identical, except for the hard drive, several mirror programs, like Norton
Ghost, will let your make a direct copy of everything on the smaller hard drive up to the larger
hard drive.

That being said, assuming the two computer are not identical make model, etc. Read up of the file
transfer wizard for moving your data, personal settings and similar files over to the new computer.
Then install your favorite programs and you are ready to go.

However, having been given a computer, do you really know what is on it? Hidden viruses, spyware,
etc.?
You would be very wise to first have someone reformat the drive and re-install the Windows and
hardware drivers for the original disks. The transfer your files and install your programs.

What do you mean by "everything"?

For programs, you have to re-install those, so you need the install disks
and license keys. In some cases, this may mean new purchases, particularly
if the old system is still in use.

For data, if the old system is still running, consider the FIles and
Settings Transfer wizard.

Much data can simply be copied. For that task, I use a program called
FileSync from http://www.fileware.com/ .
If there's a network available, share the folders on the old system, point
FileSync to the old user document folders and the new one, and let it make
the list and then copy.
