I need to know how to transfer files/folders from an old
PC to a new PC without having to burn CD's. Both are
running Windows XP Home and are setting on the same desk.
I do have a USB cable and am told the PC's can be cabled
togather and the files/folders transferred. I do have a
USB cable and both PC's have NIC's but I do not know the
mechanics (software etc.) to get the job done. Thanks

All you need to do is get an RJ45 (cross-over) cable from a pc shop, plug
each end in to the NICs in each pc and then run the XP network setup wizard
(in 'My Network Places').

Then it's just a case of sharing the files you want to copy over, by right
clicking on the selected folder and going to 'Sharing and Security'
