Track changes differences between 2000 and 2003

I just upgraded to 2003 from 2000, which I am sure someday I will be glad
about. Now, however it's just frustrating when trying to make, track and
review changes and use comments feature. I used to be able to easily see the
original if I wanted to check it as I'm making changes. Now I select "Show
Original" or "Show Original Showing Markup" on the new show menu, and it's
not the original I see - It's the version after changes. What am I doing
wrong? Can anyone answer this question, and then does anyone have a link or
other resource for information on tracking changes and using comments feature
in Word 2003? Thank you.

Are you sure you're not selecting Final rather than Original?

Yes, I tried all four options (final with & without changes, and original
with & without changes). Some of the changes are still in both original
options. It makes no sense to me, and sounds from what I've read that that is
not what's supposed to happen.

I deleted the doc I was working on and started over with a clean doc and now
it's working. My guess is I inadvertantly turned off Track Changes for a time
so some of my changes weren't tracked in the previous doc. Thanks for your
help!
