Hi,

I'm using OL2002 on a Win2000 laptop. Having used my computer after several
weeks today, I just discovered that the [Send/ Receive] and [Send/Receive
Settings] options have disappeared from my Tools menu.

The >Send/Receive< button on the main Outlook toolbar is still there and F9
also works. However, both these options lead to only a partial download of
mail, i.e. only 3 accounts are downloaded, whereas I have 7 different POP3
mail accounts in my Outlook.

I tried Resetting to the default options, but that does not seem to make any
difference.

Would anyone know what may have happened and how it may be resolved?

Thanks for a quick response.

SL

Have you checked your send/receive settings under tools?

Milly,

If you check my original message, you will see that I wrote that I cannot
find 'Send/Receive Settings' in the Tool menu!

Failing what Milly says, ty going into Tools and
Customize, click on the Commands tab and drag the other
version of the send/receive button from there onto the
main bar, this used to happen to me some time ago but it
was with Outlook 2K rather than 2002...

Hope this helps

David,

The main Send/Receive button (i.e. on the Standard Menu) is still there, but
it activates only 3 mail accounts out of a total of 7 that are included in
my Outlook. I explained all this in my first message in this thread.

So using the main Send/Receive button from the standard menu, I am unable to
download all my mail.

That is why I need to know how I can get back the missing menu options
(Send/Receive & Send/Receive Settings) from my Tools menu.

Thanks

SL

Sue,

No disrespect meant, but if it were that simple I would not be seeking
urgent help in the newsgroup! Unfortunately it is neither is it an
abbreviated menu nor is the window too small to display the full menu.

Those options just don't exist in the Tools menu any longer.

Since my original post in this newsgroup, I have also tried to repair my
Office installation by inserting the original CD, unfortunately to no avail!

Abreviated menu, perhaps?

Try this - under "View->Toolbars->Customize" - on the
Commands tab, select Tools in the left pane, then try
dragging the options you are missing from the right pane
to the "Tools" menu.

Any of those menu items can be easily removed, and that
may be what happened.

Sue,

This particular solution is featured in Outlook's Help function and I tried
it as well. The missing commands (once again, 'Send/Receive' and
'Send/Receive Settings') are NOT listed under the various commands lised in
the right pane when Tools is selected on the left pane.

Try creating a new profile.

I assume you looked in the other categories for the
missing commands, so I won't suggest it. What service
pack are you at? What was going on with the laptop while
you were not using it? Any virus scanning software on
that system? Have you tried setting up a new profile? How
about completely removing and re-installing Outlook?

Sue

Thanks Brian, that worked!

However, I'm still in the dark why this happened and what I can do to
prevent a repeat occurrence.

Great!

Stray cosmic rays? Who knows? Sometimes profiles just get cranky and the
only solution is to replace them.

Yeah, no kidding. I can't count the number of Outlook 2002 profiles we have
had to recreate for weird problems.

Hi
I know what you said in your original thread, I have found
in the past that replacing that button with the other
version (there are two types of send/receive button) from
the customize menu can sometimes help, as I said in MY
last message, I have had the same problem myself and this
has helped with it, I dont know why it resolved it for me
and it might not make a difference for you, but its worth
a try.
