I customize my toolbars, and they keep changing. They
will be OK for a while, then they will change. It happens
during a session, i.e. I haven't closed/opened Outlook and
it happens.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

If you are changing folders, it is expected. So, if you have a Flag
toolbar, it does not appear when you are in your calendar folder. Likewise,
some toolbars are specific to the folder and the item type in the folder.

Is this what you are experiencing? If not, then close Outlook, find and
rename outcmd.dat to .old. Reopen Outlook and then recreate all of your
toolbars and customizations.

This time, after you are finished, copy the outcmd.dat file to a safe place
in case it becomes corrupt again (happens more often than it should). If it
does, just delete it and replace it with the saved outcmd.dat file.

Thanks for the reply.

Not, it isn't a flag thing. I customize the toolbars for
reading a message (remove the up/down arrow, add "edit
message" etc.) and also customize the reply window (select
all, remove the flag and other items I don't use). These
toolbars work for several days, or several minutes. Then,
all of the sudden, when I open a message, or click reply,
the toolbar will change, and get this, not to the "reset"
condition. But they do change to the same unknown toolbar
every time. BTW, this is the "standard" toolbar that I'm
modifying.

I tried creating new toolbars and turning off the standard
one. Still happens.

I will try your outcmd trick.

Thank you!

Still doing it. I ran a "fix it up" re-install, and that
didn't help either. Maybe I'll do a real re-install, but
I hate to do that and loose any of my messages and address
book.

I'm using the Student and Teacher's edition, and I only
installed OL 2003. I kept my Word and Excel 97. Do you
think that matters?

You know, I went from a 200 MHz Win95 machine that was
running MSExchange. Exchange was wonderful. All the
toolbars stayed as I left them, and I could have multiple
signatures. That program was 10 years old, and it still
outperformed any Outlook I have used. Too bad it won't
run on XP.

Now, I'm running 2.7 GHz, XP, and I don't think I'm any
further ahead. If these toolbars keep giving me trouble,
I don't know what to do.

BTW, is there any way to get rid of that silly banner that
tells me the message was converted to plain text, I
replied, etc.? I don't need to know that, and this just
takes up space.

I am so frustrated with this thing...
