How can I make the font for the main toolbar ("File, Edit View etc) appear in
the same font as the one I set in Windows Display Properties?

Changes in the font in "appearances" Windows Display Properties is
recognized by all other applications, and by parts of WORD, but not the
toolbar menu. (The appearances are saved in a theme.)

Word uses Tahoma. Period.

Thanks. WORD certainly does insist on Tahoma when I suggest
Palatino and most other fonts in the menu. BUT WORD does
recognize at least one font: Perpetua. Somehow choosing
Perpetua in Display Appearances causes WORD to use it in
all the menus.
If I knew why it works with this font, I could make it work
with others.
Any ideas?

.

An answer to my own question:
does WORD only recognize TrueType not Adobe fonts for the
purposes of menu display?
So far the TT fonts seem to work but not the Adobe ones.

Good guess, yes.
