Toolbar buttons flashing on and off

Could someone explain why a button might start to flash orange on the toolbar after opening a file. I'm trying to open and edit a word template, and when the button for the file appears on the toolbar it starts to flash. All other files appear to be closed. Thanks.

It's calling for attention and letting you know that the file is loaded and
ready.
