I have a sound with way too much bass in it. I'd like to be able decrease
the bass. Is there any program in Windows or any program out there that
will remove some of the bass?

Double click the speaker icon on the task bar open advanced controls
You should find a way to adjust bass in the play tools and advanced menu.
also don't your speakers have a bass adjustment on them"?

Sorry, I should have given more information... It's not that the bass is
set too high on my speakers (I have the Logitech Z-680 system on a Creative
Audigy) - it's actually that there's too much bass in the sound itself as no
other sounds or music have too much bass on my computer. A program that
will work on either Windows XP or Windows Vista would work just fine as I'm
dual-booting XP Home SP2 and Vista Beta 2 (5384). (I'm involved in the CPP
for Windows Vista.)

OT: My computer is getting a '3' for the Windows Performance Rating (now
called Windows Experience Index) and running Aero Glass well. Here's the
breakdown on the rating:
CPU: AMD Sempron 64 2800+ OC'd to 1.78GHz = 3.2 (was getting 3.1 when not
overclocked)
RAM: 1.5GB of PC-2700 RAM = 3.1 (was getting 3.0 when the CPU was not
overclocked)
HD: WD 120GB (60GB partition for Vista) @ 7200RPM ATA100 (IDE) 8MB cache =
3.7
Video RAM: 256MB (detected as 384MB, which is a bug as it doesn't actually
use my physical RAM) GDDR2 = 4.3
GPU: Ati X1600PRO (AGP 8x) = 5.9 (highest rating you can possibly get as of
now...)

Thanks by the way...

I would do a google search for an audio mastering program. Also, I
would ask around in the audio related columns, instead of here.

I think that a program like Goldwave might be what you are looking for.

There are many freeware apps available, yet you must be careful with when
selecting any free applications. There are good people out there but even they
can be sabotaged by the ugly. Always check thoroughly before
downloading/installing any apps from the web.

I've never used it but have heard good of it from a friend or two, still be
careful and cautious. To see the different processes and get info click the

I dl'd the latest stable ver and the new beta to check them out. I don't
really need it other then seeing what it's about, then I can comment on it in
the future with confidence. The last thing I need is another app to test, yet I
do it for comment comfort if mentioned by others. I base any comment on
personal usage rather than hearsay, I really abhor hearsayers. I truly believe
they only have a brain byte sized only enough to follow and never to lead, most
are brain dead anyway.

Get this. I, a carpentry contractor, had an 16 yr old kid hired only as a
ghopher, you now, gopher this and gopher that. At least 95% of what came out of
his mouth was only middleman relay babble, and I let him know it. He lasted 2
months before he quit, later on I found out that he dropped out of highschool
because he didn't like being told what to do. It surprised me somewhat but made
sense knowing how he was. What truly was a stumper is how he managed to last 2
months, go figure. Wonder what he's up to these days?
