too many popups on my computer

Every 5 minutes i have a popup on my computer. it is
driving me crazy i hace a standerd cable modem and i have
setup the firewall that was free with windows xp. if
someone can please help me i will be veary happy.

Does the title bar of these pop-ups read "Messenger Service?"

This a type of spam has become quite common over the past few
months, and unintentionally serves as a valid security "alert." It
demonstrates that you haven't been taking sufficient precautions while
connected to the Internet. Your data probably hasn't been compromised
by these specific advertisements, but if you're open to this exploit,
you may well be open to other threats. Install and use a decent,
properly configured firewall. (Disabling the messenger service, as
some people recommend, only hides the symptom, and does nothing to
secure your machine.) And ignoring or just "putting up with" these
messages and the problem they represent is particularly foolish.

Download Netscape 7.1 and use it as your Browser and Mail & Newsgroup
client and you will never get Pop-Up and JUNK mail (Spam) again. All my
junk mail gets filtered in to the Junk Mail Folder and then get deleted
in xx amount of days. I being able to specify xx amount of days. All
Pop-Up are blocked except the one I want. If you are interested go here
to get the 7.1 version of Netscape.

These monograme pop-ups target XP which carries the
messenger function that MS claims to be the biggest
improvement. Simply disable the 'Messenger' function.
Control Panel>Performance Maintenance>Administrative
Tools>Services>Messenger (change Startup Type from Auto
to Disable). Good Luck.
