Too Many Fonts

I have over 900 fonts installed, and I'm told that having
so many may cause performance problem: slow boot because
they all have to be read, and strange things happening
otherwise. (One strange thing that happens to me is that
it takes over a minute to start printing.)

I don't need them all, but I do need to have most of them
available quickly. Can I move them from the fonts folder
to a CD and copy them back to the fonts folder as needed?

If not, I'm open to suggestions!

Thanks,

Barney

Earlier versions of Windows suffered if too many fonts were installed.. XP
doesn't, so nothing can be gained in terms of performance..

can you explain this in detail? because I am anaware of this difference and
I want to install more fonts.

Explain what? 9x/ME couldn't handle a vast amount of installed fonts (I
believe 400 was about the maximum) XP. because it's NT based, can handle an
(almost) infinite amount (I currently have 3000 installed, but only because
I'm too damned lazy to remove any!)
