Hi

I have 6 XP embedded computer that tries to connect to a to a
shared network disk at start up. (they start at the same time).
On one or two I get the error "Too Many Connections".
(If I have only 5 computers everything works fine).
Using "net session" on the computer that shares the disk shows
10 sessions, every computer has two sessions (with the same user).
When I make tests as dir W: (the share nane), there sometimes is
an additional session for a second or two.

I have read that XP allows max 10 connections. Since my tests shows
that every computer creates 2 or three sessions, my conclusion is that
I can have only 3 or 4 computers using a share in my XPE system.

Is this really true, it is hard for me to understand how MS can deliver
something like this.

Have I missunderstood something or ...

The solution for NT ow W2000 was to buy the server version, but how to
solve this problem for XP embedded (and pro).

Currently I am trying to understand why there is allways two sessions.
Should it be possible to reduce it to one.

Is there any method to get more connections.

XPe SP1 also supports 10 connections. If there is an issue with a SMB from
the full XP product's binaries that is duplicating the connections per
machine then the same behavior will occur in XPe if you're using the same
binaries. So basically what i'm saying is that SP1 doesn't have this
behavior, XPe-SP1 doesn't have this behavior, but perhaps there is a QFE of
SMB that is causing this?

More information would be needed, like what app is generating the
connections on startup, perhaps that is where the problem is?
