How can I reduce this file. I am having a problem with
defragmanting.
I got in touch with Diskeeper and they said that I need
to move this off the computer

2,451 MB \Documents and Settings\DEE\Local
Settings\Application Data\Identities\{33D09532-6E51-47A1-
A362-5FDBEDBCC5A0}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\HTTPMail.log

Thank you in advance,
Dee T.

Try deleting the file or its contents. Open OE and open
tools|settings. Advanced tab. Look for log file and click on
clear.

If you have multiple internal harddrive partitions, you can have Outlook
Express move this file, and related email storage files, to another drive.
Open Outlook Express and look under tools, options, maintainance, store
folder.

Otherwise, try this: with Outlook Express closed, copy the file to another
partition, or to an external harddrive. Erase the file form the internal
hard drive. Defrag the internal hard drive. Copy the file back.

By the way, a nearly 2.5 Gig mail file seems rather large. Have you
considered deleting some old messages? How about some attachments?

Have you compacted your mail recently? Just deleting messages does not
recover space. Rather it just leaves unused holes in the main data storage
file. Compacting squeezes things together. In the main Outlook Express
window, right-click on a folder, properties, local file, compact. (By the
way, other mail programs also have compact features, inclusing AOL and Lotus
Notes.)

Finally, you can create additional local folders and move some older
messages into them.
