TOC instead of table of contents

I opened a template document in Windows 2007 and now when ever I open a new
document (.docx) I see the template fields in stead of text. For example I
will see {TOC \o "1-3" \h \z \u} instead of the table of contents.
Something has been switched on some where , how do I turn this off?

First of all, read the Word help - this is very basic. You should put in
at least a little effort to learn the program before expecting others to
solve your problems.

Second, do not post the same question more than once to the group. It's
pointless and discourteous.
