Hello
I have Office 97 SR-2 running on a recently installed Windows XP. Before I had the same Office but in a Windos 98 SE
Now when I open some word files Word takes 1-5min to open it. I've seen that in Tools->Templates (translation, maybe is not the exactly menu) the template insered is the one I had in the old server (\\server\templates\template_name.dot); but now the template is in my PC
Doing some test, I tried to open that file disconnected from the networks, and It was openned instantaniely, so I think that word is looking for the template in the old server (that now doesn't exist)
How can I said to word not to find that template? I want to use my local template
There is any way to 'clean' the word file? I mean, to erase all extra-hystorical info that includes de word file? (becase I'd open it with an hexedit and I could see the old templates path: \\server\...
Or if you known another possible reason...?

Thanks in advance

Does changing the template path for the document, via
the Tools > Templates and Add-Ins dialog box, make a difference?

No, I've already changed to my local template but it still take 1 or 2 minutes to open some files. (and in .doc 'memory' I can still see //server/... references...)

I'm afraid I've run out of ideas...

For general troubleshooting, go to http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/index.htm
and click the Application errors tab.
