My home comp has got cctv on which is causing big probs with the memory. Its been recommended we have the cctv on a separate comp that is networked to the other rather than just get more memory, bigger processor etc on the one comp, but no-one seems to be able to explain pros and cons of both systems? The cctv needs to run 24/7 but I also use the comp everyday for work, I'd like to be able to fix any probs on the comp myself if I can because I can't afford it to be broken or taken away for long. Can anyone help to explain pros and cons or recommed somewhere that can? Thanks Karen.

Why not simply buy a cheap monitor for the CCTV camera to display. Or are you attempting to capture the image and record it in real time.

If this is the case, then definitely do not consider using it for other applications.

Get a cheap system for CCTV, but save on the unnecessary items [additional USB ports] ethernet adapter, DVD-RW drive etc, and instead get a bit more memory.
