Hello,

Due to problems with my computer I decided to try a complete reinstall,
which seems to have failed. I am now left with 3 installations to choose from
when turning on my pc which come up as a list, the top two of which fail to
load the bottom one is ok, the computer automatically chooses the top one
when starting up. How can I delete these two failed installations so that my
computer automatically chooses the third.

You need to edit the boot.ini file in msconfig.exe to remove the
failed entries.

This is very tricky for the inexperienced and if you get it wrong you
are left with no OS again.

If you want to have a go the instructions are here
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=289022

You are looking to set the good entry as "default" and remove the
other 2. If you are not confident you can do it get somebody to come
and do it for you.

Edit the boot.ini file to remove the invalid entries, boot into the good
OS and then delete the files/folders for the invalid installs.
