Hi,

Has anyone found a fix yet for the hitting reply to an email and Outlook
2003 not sending the email if the address is in the 'To' field but moving it
to the 'Cc' field works?

Thanks,

John.

I wasn't aware there was a such a bug. What happened when you tried to send
and what errors did you receive?

Diane,

I've had this ever since I have had Office 2003 Pro, and hence Outlook 2003,
installed on my system. I have tried repairs and still get the same thing.

No error messages are generated. I simply receive an email sent to me, hit
'Reply', compose my reply, hit 'Send' and the email simply stays in my
Outbox. It happens intermittently but I have noticed it mainly happens with
HTML emails sent to me. When the email sits in the Outbox it shows an 'open
envelope' icon whereas, normally, an email being sent shows a closed
envelope icon.

I found the work around for this is to simply remove the email address from
the 'To' field, move it to the 'Cc' field and the email then goes.

I have seen several other people reporting the same thing in various forums
online but no one seems to have a fix - I guess MS have not picked up on it
or not enough people are reporting it. It might be something in the oiginal
HTML or, possibly, something else on some people's PCs that is causing this.
My Windows XO Pro system is, touch wood, incredibly stable though and this
is the only problem that I have on it (Darn, jinxed that now!).

We know it happens with the new OneNotepower toy when BCM is installed and
you open the outbox... but this is the first I heard of this scenario.

No idea. Do you have any outlook addins installed? Look in tools, options,
other, advanced options, addins.

A complete list is also at these two keys - note the loadbehavior for each
and set them to 0 to disable. Change the value back, one at a time and see
if you can repro.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins

That raises the possibility of it acting like this with some other piece of
software installed on the System. Which one though is anyone idea?

Thanks Diane,

Under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins I have the
Norton AntiSpam addin.

Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins I have the
Microsoft VBA for Outlook Addin.

I have reset the Norton key to 0 and will ltry this first mainly because
Norton AntiSpam simply was an annoying piece of software that never worked
for me and, judging by the numerous posts I have read online, has become a
right pain in the backside for large numbers of other users. It is
impossible to remove it from Outlook once it is in there by all accounts and
as it has had so many negative posts I will look at that first.

I'll post back when I have some news.

The VBA key should be there...

It's probably Norton doing it. Why, I don't know. Also - are you sure it's
not getting sent at all? We've seen some problems where mail gets sent but
not moved to another folder.

No, the mail does not get sent at all. It just sits there. I know this
because friends simply have not received the emails and I have had to
re-send them using the 'Cc' field when sending via 'Reply' or 'Reply All'.
