Time zone changes to wrong Time zone every couple of days

I can change the timezone to EST and after a few days it goes to PST. I
change it back to EST and same thing happens after a couple of days.

Any ideas?

Is the machine part of a network? If so, it could be that the server is
updating the time and its setting needs to be changed.

It is a stand alone laptop.

If line 30 doesn't help, you must have some software changing the
setting, or preventing the setting change, maybe even malware. Do you
have Spybot's Teatimer or other preventative utilities running that
might be blocking registry changes?

I disabled the Synching with an internet time server. So far so good.
