Have run Tuesday's updates on 2 XP and 2 2000 machines in the office and time
synchronization has ceased to work on any of them.
Any clues ???

No !

Just a note saying unable to contact the time server. Have tried two or
three different time servers, but get the same response.
Have also tries anachron synchronizing software and that gives the same
response,

Which server are you using?
I use time.nist.gov and it failed yesterday but works today.

Why my "Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server" check
box is not selectable?

"They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve
neither liberty or security"
I've tried the windows one, time.windows.com, our local University College
London, ntp0.ucl.ac.uk one and the UK one, uk.pool.ntp.org - all give the
same error. Anachron says it has tried 10 times to connect and failed and
the Windows time clock sychronization says that "an error has occurred when
trying to connect to...."
It is weird that the UCL one was working fine before this weeks XP and 2000
upgrade.
My home computer is running on the uk.pool.ntp.org and was fine last night,
but as I shut down it updated XP. I haven't tried it yet.........
