hi, the time of the clock for my computer keeps changing
everytime i turn on or restart my computer. i reinstalled
XP but it did not solve the problem. i scanned my computer
for any viruses but it did not find any. does anyone know
what's the problem with the clock? thanks

You need to replace the CMOS battery. It's a little button battery on the
motherboard. You can do it yourself if you're comfortable opening up the
case -- just pop the battery out, take it to the nearest Radio shack or
whatever and ask for a replacement.

Be aware that after you remove the CMOS battery you may have to reset some
BIOS (hardware) settings. If you don't know what that means, don't worry too
much about it. Just don't be surprised if the power management options and
other hardware features are different when you boot it up again.

Hi,
This is the activity of the BIOS battery.. on the
motherboard there is a coin battery which helps in running
the clock even when the system is turned off.if your system
is old then there is a possibilty that the battery is worn
out or else it could be a problem with the BIOS....try to
flash the BIOS but take care in doing it cos if you do not
flash the BIOS properly then it is an irreversible process
and you will have to change the motherboard itself.take an
experts help to do this. if the system is old then try
changing the battery and this should work cos windows clock
is just a replica of the BIOS time.
