Howard Brazee

I often get e-mail from someone that appears to be sent an hour in the future.
She uses Outlook 2000 and I use Outlook 2003. If I reply to the message
though, the quote indicates the correct time.

Her message to me says under the received column Fri 05/20/2005 9:20 AM

My reply to her builds the following heading:

From: Xxx Xxxxxxx [mailto:[email protected]]
Sent: Friday, May 20, 2005 8:25 AM
To: Howard Brazee
Subject:

It's odd that one part of my Outlook sees one time, and another part of my
Outlook sees another time for that same message.

It could be that one of the times presented is your PC's time and the other
is either the server's time or it's her time. Or it could be that one of
you may have a mismatch between Windows and Outlook's Calendar in the
timezone or DST settings.

It could be that Earthlink is in a different time zone - but it would seem that
this would happen more often in that case, it is a big company.

I didn't know that Outlook's Calendar has timezone or DST settings that might be
different than Windows' settings. Where do I find these?

Tools>Options>Calendar Options>Time Zone for Outlook
Double-click the clock in the system tray and choose the Time Zone tab for
Windows.

I checked her computer. They both have Rocky Mountain time zone, without
auto-correcting for daylight savings time (because she has her clock update
itself via the internet).

Her mail client is adding the wrong DST specification to the mail headers
because she doesn't allow the PC to keep track of DST. This is what causes
the discrepancy between you and her.
