Time & Date Settings

In the last week or so my time and date settings seem to be all over
the place. Despite setting via the internet option and applying, on
restart the date has often changed backwards by a few months. Why is
it not sticking. I have had the PC (HP Pavilion) for 18 months so I
would have thought the internal battery should be fine?

Any Suggestions?

Hi Pete,

You'd think the CMOS battery would be fine, but it may not be. A lot may
depend on how long the unit sat on a shelf before you got it. If the time
goes screwy when you reboot, then that indicates the battery is probably
dead. When you reboot, enter the BIOS and see what the time is set to. This
is where Windows gets the time from on initial boot, afterwards internal
software takes over the tracking. If the time goes screwy when running, then
it is software related.

Thanks Rick, it started OK today so I guess I'll have to keep an eye on it?
Cheers
