Time conversion

I have a formula which subtracts cell A1 and A2, which are times (say 16:45-
07:45 = 09:45, or 9 hours 45 minutes worked). What I need is for the result
to be converted to a decimal. It should equal 9.75.

Any ideas?

Hi Patrick,

Assuming A1=7:00 AM and B1=16:45, try,

=(B1-A1+(B1<A1))*24

Times in XL are stored as fractional days, so to get fractional hours,
multiply by 24 hours/day:

A3: =(A2 - A1)*24 ===> 9.75

when A3 is formatted as General or another number format.
