I use XP Pro.
Noted that sometimes, in my desktop, it shows the standard icon with a tilt
under. There is no program connected with it.
When I delete it, it shows later again and again.
What cud do that ?
And how can I remove it definitivelly ?
Pse help

.
What does it do when you double click the icon? If
nothing, delete it in your StartUp.

I guess you are referring to a "tilde" which looks like this: ~
In connection with an icon, it generally means that it is identifying a
temporary file. I understand that many people have made the same complaint you
did to Microsoft, because they were having loads of problems locating the
program that spawned the file, and that MS is working on a fix.

While that's going on, if it annoys you, just right click on the icon with the
tilde and delete it. It'll show up again, but just continue deleting it every
time it shows up. Eventually, MS will find a way to fix it permanently.

Tilde - ~ ?

Those are temporary copies of the address book that get made whenever
you modify it or add something. They ought to get deleted, but a bug
has crept in so you have to do it manually
