Any opinions comparing/contrasting these two email programs? What to
consider in selecting one over the other?

TIA for any ideas/suggestions~

I like Opera - I started using the email client just to see if I could get
by with one program less, as I was already using the browser

I found it a bit difficult at first, but now I like it a lot.

Unfortunately IMO it's a rubbish newsreader, far too much screen clutter.

I'm not getting into an argument about esoteric features, as I don't
understand them, they both do just what I want, but (here's where I run for
cover), I found Teebird rather slow and unreliable crashwise.

I too decided to try Opera so that I had one less programme installed
but I can't get to like it so am still with Thunderbird. My main
annoyance was that I couldn't label emails or threads in different
colours with Opera despite trying for ages but I may just not have found
out how.

I was expecting more impolite responses from Tbird users; thanks for no
flames.

It's the old problem as I see it - there's folks like me, and then there's
the power users.

All we can do is input our input and hope the other folks can sort it out

:-)

I use the Mozilla Suite, I don't recommend Sea-Monkey yet. I use a
separate news reader (Agent).

I don't understand. The mail and news screens are identical in Opera, one
of the things I really like about it.

Yep. Added to that it lacks capabilities that programs like Dialog
have.

One of the things I hate about it. Apparently the Opera people haven't
worked out yet that an emailer and a newsreader do different things. I
don't want to go to a menu item called "mail" when I want items
relating to "news" etc.

Regards, John.

This question is like asking whether I prefer mozilla's email to tbird.
Opera's email is part of a much larger program and I find opera
frustrating to use. I had problems with my firefox settings for a while
and was using opera and was frustrated by the lack of some features I
use regularly in firefox.

If I was using opera as a browser I would probably stick with that email
just for simplicity.
