Thunderbird blocking pictures and small fonts

Hello,
I've recently installed Thunderbird and am experiencing two problems.
First, all incoming mail is in very small fonts and everything I've
tried doesn't seem to change it. Secondly, most the pictures that come
in are blocked by a blue bordered square with a small red diamond
inside it.
I'm not a real expert in computers so any help you can offer would be
very appreciated.

Why not try the Thunderbird newsgroup at news.mozilla.org?

use..... click on tools, options, display, font tab, fonts
button....... now set the min size to 14 or what ever size you want
.........
then click on the privacy button, gen tab , and uncheck the block
loading of images

To increase the font just press and hold ctrl with the + key.
