Recently upgraded to office xp from 2000, also upgraded to
win 2k sp4 patch. Lost thumbnail view in my pictures etc.
with office xp upgrade but found workaround. Now have
also lost thumbnail view in power point folder. Question,
will same reg edit that was applied for jpeg etc. work
here? Or, how do I restore the thumbnail view to my
folder where I keep all my ppt files?

SYMPTOMS
No powerpoint 2003 thumbnail preview under explorer using Windows professional 2000.

Steps to Reproduce the Problem :

The System is Windows 2000 professional

1- Open Powerpoint
2- Clic File, New and select in the Task Pane "Blank presentation"
3- Select in the "Content Layouts" zone the "Blank" presentation.
4- Select the Oval tool in the drawing bar and draw an big oval
5- Save your presentation in a c:\mynewfolder\mypres.ppt
6- Open c:\mynewfolder with explorer and clic thumbnails in the view menu


WORKAROUND
Open regedit
Find the [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ppt\ShellEx entry and create a subkey {BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}
Double clic the default key and type {9DBD2C50-62AD-11d0-B806-00C04FD706EC}

Find the [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pot\ShellEx entry and create a subkey {BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}
Double clic the default key and type {9DBD2C50-62AD-11d0-B806-00C04FD706EC}
