Hi, Jane - my crystal ball is in the shop, so I'm not sure I'll be able to
help you with such limited information provided. Can you post back with a
lot more detail? What antivirus software? What error messages are you
getting? What happened before this problem started? Please provide as much
background info as possible and you will likely get a lot of help in these
groups.

Help us to help you:

WHAT "will not run with it off", dingbat? If your post were any
worse, I would be asking you what to set my decoder ring on to
understand it.

He might be delirious from eating the wrong peanut butter crackers.

Jane:
We're not psychics. We need more clues!

Tell us more about which antivirus application(include version
information) you are attempting to use and the service pack level of
your Windows XP. Also tell us things like what leads you to think the
antivirus isn't running, the COMPLETE text from any error messages you
are seeing, which anti-spyware/anti-adware applications you are using
and if you have checked your system with any on-line scanners.

Windows XP (no Windows that i know of) comes with any built-in AntiVirus
software.

Given that - you need to provide a *lot* more information in order to get
help. ;-)

What anti-virus? What did you do to get it on?

Your statement "now it is on and it still will not run with it on"
doesn't make any sense. If it's on, that means it's running. Please
clarify what you mean.
