So Xp is secure..... no matter what patches there are applied da
files log every single thing that you do, every single email you sen
and web sites that you visit along with the time and date

For info on these see-
http://www.milincorporated.com/a_indexdat.html you can have as man
patches as you like, but if someone was intent on spying on you thes
would be a good place to start

If they are useful... why are they hidden, why can't they be easil
deleted....
Infact a better question is what purpose do they serve apart from...
logging evey E-mail that you send, every Web site you visit an
everyhting that you do..

Any answers..

Lots of simple solutions to your concerns. Programs like XP AntiSpy exist
just for these sorts of questions. There are tons of free and good .dat
cleaners. I personally use MRUBlaster. You will have to note that the .dat
files are only cleaned upon a reboot as they are then unloaded from memory
and not locked so they are available for cleaning. So please don't complain
about the added boot time. One thing I make sure to do is never ever use your
real name at any time during the installation process or when creating
accounts. Turn off all AutoComplete as well as disable things like your URL
and Command list through the registry in RunMRU. XP is highly configurable
and actually quite easy to secure. So for your complaint I would say, learn,
learn, and learn. Google your issues and start reading. The solutions will
only take a couple of days to read about and implement. TTFN.

Sound advice, thats what I did the other day.... thought I would
mention them. Thanks for the reply.

As I understand it, XP was partly funded by CIA to spy on foreign
terrorists. If this is the case then Microsoft is obliged to log all
your actions just in case these are required for investigation purpses.
You may recall that fw months ago some telcos were exposed to have
gathered info about its users and forwarded them to the relevant
authorities!! Same principles apply here and I can't see why MS can't
cooperate with these authorities.

As you further recall, this is evidently an urban legend in the making.
Three of the four telcos involved have denied, in strenuous language, any
such activity. Of course the conspiracy buffs counter the telcos are
required, by law, to deny any and all such involvement.

"Truth" is in the mind of the beholder.
