Which browser are you using to view the group?

MS Explorer v6

As Alan said, switch to using Outlook Express to read newsgroups. There are
tutorial links in the message he wrote you a little while ago.

I am having trouble adding a new post as well.

I am sure I have done it this way before though.

Someone please help me, coz I need to post something about my Windows
Explorer which continually crashes.

Sorry if I have upset/annoyed anyone with this post.

Im quite new to this

You aren't upsetting anyone - if you don't ask, you won't learn. ;-)
Regular helpers (like me!) *enjoy* helping you or we wouldn't do it.
We're volunteers, after all.

This isn't a "discussion group". This is a Usenet newsgroup and you are
using the web interface, which is pretty terrible. Instead, you should
use a real newsreader. There are many good newsreaders for Windows, but
you can use Outlook Express since you already have it. Setting up OE to
use newsgroups is very easy. Here are links to teach you about Usenet,
how to post, and how to set up OE as a newsreader. Try it; you'll find
navigating newsgroups to be so much easier than the web interface and
you'll get a lot more out of this valuable resource.

Malke,
Thanks for your response.

I have hooked onto Outlook Express, so can air my problem of which I have
posted earlier, but not having any luck.

Maybe you can help

"My Windows Explorer on my pc keeps crashing. It asks me whether I want to
send a report to Microsoft or not.
I select "send" and it does its thing, then stops.

I have searched the Microsoft Newsgroups who have told me this report is for
Microsoft only, and they don't contact you.

My problem really is that Windows Explorer crashes when I go into a folder
(any folder). It keeps doing this no matter what. I have tried the
newsgroups and got confused. I even did a restore back to last week, and
that didnt do the trick."

Malke,

Not sure if you need more.

2. Dont think anything changed between the time of pc being ok and it
crashing

3. Windows XP Home Edition SP2

4. Virus/Malware checked, well at least Virus, using McAfee Virusscan v7.0

5. No Yellow Exclamation marks in Event Viewer

The very first thing I would do is some hardware troubleshooting. Start
by checking for overheating and bad RAM. Here is a link to general
hardware troubleshooting steps.

If this looks like it isn't your cup of tea, take the machine to a
professional computer repair shop (not your local version of
BigStoreUSA).

Thanks for your reply

I dont think its a hardware problem though, more a software problem.

Could my Windows Explorer be corrupt? Can I replace it?

I dont think its a hardware problem though, more a software problem.

Why not? Did you do hardware troubleshooting? You never defined
"crashes", but sudden and random lockups, computer restarts, unexpected
shutdowns, are usually caused by failing hardware.

Your log shows a basic failure of the Windows operating system in many
areas:

advapi32.dll is a part of an advanced API services library supporting
numerous APIs including many security and registry calls.

gdi32.dll contains functions for the Windows GDI (Graphical Device
Interface) which assists windows in creating simple 2-dimensional
objects.

kernel32.dll One of the most important files of Windows. It handles
memory operations and other such things. Windows won't work without it.

ntdll.dll is a module that contains NT system functions. (XP is NT 5.1)
ole32.dll is a library which contains core OLE functions.

shell32.dll is a library which contains Windows Shell API functions,
which are used when opening web pages and files.

user32.dll is a module that contains Windows API functions related the
Windows user interface (Window handling, basic UI functions, and so
forth).

wininet.dll is a module that contains Internet-related functions used by
Windows applications.

winsock.dll is a module that contains the Windows Sockets API used by
most Internet and network applications to handle network connections.

I would check for hardware problems and if there are none, back up the
data and clean-install Windows. Reinstall drivers and programs from
installation media, restore data from backup. If you didn't back up
your data previously and aren't able to keep Windows up long enough to
retrieve it, it is completely possible to get your data by using a
rescue system such as Knoppix or a Bart's PE.
