Coincident with installing SP3 (and IE8) I've started getting
This dialog whenever I double-click on a desktop icon pointing to
my WSH box's "Public" share from my XP machine:
http://tinyurl.com/yhhu2xf

It does not happen with other shares.

What's different about this share is that I set it tb the
location of "MyDocuments".

Is there a way to suppress the dialog?

Rather than suppressing the message, wouldn't you rather see why it's
happening and lock if down if possible? Or do you already know that?
I think mowgreen's references might be a start, or an MX group here for
security if there is one.

Per MowGreen:

That thread supports my suspicion (based on the correlation of
onset of problem with application of SP3) that it's the XP box.
Something about designating \\[ServerName] shares as internet
rather than intranet links and applying the security settings for
internet files.

I guess the next thing is to figure out why that happens for just
that share and not all the other shares...

Bingo!

IE8 | Tools | Internet Options | Security | Local Intranet |
Custom Level | Miscellaneous | Access Data Sources Across Domains
= Disable

Thanks Twayne.

Thanks MowGreen.

YW, Pete. Glad to see you've figured out where the message stemmed from
and that it could be disabled without compromising the system's security.
Happy Holidaze !
