You receive the "This patch package could not be opened" error message in an Office program

I had that problem, too. But every Microsoft Installer Package stop's with
this error msg.
This isn't nice. :-/

ok, i reinstall my system. And now the error is back.
I think that the problem comes with one of those software installers:
-7-Zip
-Adobe Creative Suite 2
-Creative Drivers + Utilities
-Fesplatten-Inspektor
-Google Earth
-Google Talk
-Logitech Camera-Driver
-Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
-Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix
-Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
-Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Language Pack
-Microsoft Command Shell
-Microsoft Office 2003
-mIRC
-Mozilla Firefox 1.5
-MSN Messenger 7.5
-Nero 7
-No-Ip.com DUC
-Norton Systemworks 2006
-Nvida Drivers
-Restorer2000 Professional
-The Bat!
-Winamp
-Windows Installer 3.1
-Windows Media Connect
-Windows XP Service Pack 2

so, did anyone know or just think that you know where the problem is?
iam going crazy. I Install the Office Pack and the Microsoft Command Shell
which use the Installer. And it works without any problems.

ok, there is any error with starting msi files as non administrator. They are
always damaged, when i start the same file as Administrator everything is
working.

Where is the problem? The installer is configured to run with higher rights.
Does anyone know something?

I get the problem with Adobe CS 2 too... and basically everything I try to
install... somebody please help!!
