ThinkPad A22m Power Problem

My ThinkPad worked OK with Windows 2000 Pro. I installed
XP Pro and after it has been off for a while, it won't
power up. When I push the power button, I get a little
thump from the floppy drive, and a brief flash of the
hard disk access light, and then nothing.

I can fix the problem by unplugging the AC supply and
removing the battery for about 10 minutes.

So far, I have flashed the latest BIOS from IBM, obtained
all the IBM updates, and reinstalled XP Pro, with no
improvement.

Any ideas?

IBM make so many hardware revisions during the product life of their
machines, one could not guarantee that an IBM XP Pro cd for your model would
work properly, let alone any version that you may have purchased.. you only
hope is that IBM support and their updates/drivers/patches do their job..
you could always go back to Windows 2000 as a last resort..
