Try logging off and logging back on to make missing system tray icons
appear.

If that doesn't help then, disable SSDP and uPNP Services;log off and
then log on:-

Not saying I can technically solve your issue, but my
"work-around" this problem (which happens to me frequently
as well), is that I found and purchased a flash drive (I
assume you're talking about a missing flash drive icon),

I purchased a flash drive that has a light on it. The flash
drive is GUARANTEED safe to remove from the system once the
light goes off (indicating it has stopped reading/writing).

My last drive didn't have the failsafe, and --
scatterbrained me-- I was constantly pulling the flash drive
out of the socket without removing it from the system first.
I kept trashing my data.

My new flash drive, a DaneElec 512 mb drive, works just
fine. I look at it when I'm done with it. If the light's
off, I can safely remove it from its slot.

Haven't lost any data or crashed my system yet.

Hope that helps.

Good luck!
