there is no disk in drive

i have windows xp pro in my laptop. the usb flash drive comes with an
error messsage "there is no disk in drive". can you please sort out the
problem?

Does this USB flash drive work properly in another computer?
Do your USB ports on this computer work with other devices?
 
the usb flash drive doesn't work in other computer too. the usb port
works with other devices.
 
Check the drive maker's website for firmware upgrades. I've got a small MP3
player that had the drive go the same way and since a firmware upgrade it
now works better than it did new.

If you can't connect to it at all, how are you supposed to update firmware?
