Hi. How are you?

This one is freaky. Windows starts up but there is no desktop.
I can get to the Task Manager and open programs via the New Task option.

However there is no task bar. Right clicking on the screen does not bring up
the menu.

Any ideas?

Try Explorer.exe as a new task. If this works, you have some type of
malware/spyware or registry corruption that is shutting down
Explorer.exe.

Also, ry removing any additional toolbars that you may have
installed. I had a simliar problem where the Google Deskbar caused my
problems. (http://groups.google.ca/group/

Is this XP Pro? If so were you playing around in GPEDIT.MSC?

If so, Bypass Traverse checking if modified can cause this behavior. When
you open the task manager select new task to run and type GPEDIT.MSC and look
under user rights assignment in the security subfolder.

If you don't have XP Pro this is pf no use to you.

You have changed the message subject and did not quote any of the message to
which you reply, so it's out of context. The standard protocol is to quote
at least a portion of the message. This is actually a Usenet newsgroup, not
a forum.
