Everytime Outlook does the send/receive function, it tries to send one
message. I have no idea what this message is and it is not in the outbox.
This also causes the recieving to be sporadic if at all. I have checked all
my settings within the email account and they have not changed. It used to
work fine. help?

This exact same bug just happened to me this morning. I was going to post
here when I saw your post. I am sorry I can not help and would be grateful
if someone could help us both.

I fixed the problem by replacing the present corrupted outlook.pst file by
the healthy one that I had saved on Saturday. I selected out of the current
Outlook all the messages sent and received since Saturday that I wanted to
keep, saved them and reinserted them in the restaured outlook.

Good luck.

Do you mean that, by accepting to send a read receipt upon request I
have caused this and therefore if I had replied No when the system
asked me whether I wished to send the read receipt, I could have
avoided all this trouble?

Possibly. If the read receipt was cued up for sending on an account that no
longer exists, this problem can occur. By not having allowed the receipt, I
can imagine the problem would not have occurred.

But the account to which I sent the receipt still exists. I had problems
with Outlook hanging and being so slow that I ended up closing it to reopen
it, as I sometimes do when it presents these symptoms. This may have caused
the bug.
