I used an Russian software "Wutool" to look for all update files downloaded
to my computer from Microsoft company. I am surprised to find there are 500+
files in the log. Some of them are named "noname.exe", but produced by
Microsoft.

Though I also intalled microsoft office as well as its update files into my
windows, is it possible that update files are so many?

BTW,is there anyone use wutool to backup all downloaded windowsupdate files?
If not, how do you backup the update files for future reinstalling the OS?

Thank you.

They can't be backed up once installed. To keep a copy for future
reinstallations download the update file manually and save a copy to
wherever.

I prefer this method, slipstreaming the current service pack and with
all hotfixes after the current service pack.

When and if you ever need reinstalling the OS, you would be completely
up to date if you keep your installation CD up to date.

Also I integrate my drivers and a few extra programs like office 2003
and registry tweaks.

So when you reformat and install the OS, Office 2003 with the latest
updates and other programs along with the registry tweaks will be
install as well.
