This is what happens why I try to install Microsoft Office
2000 on my Windows 2000 PC.

I have checked all the policies I know of but have yet to
come across anything that would produce such error message.

I am looking for any possible insight into what might be
causing the problem.

The computer is stand alone and not on a Network with any
type of Domain or controller.

Feel free to email me with any possible solutions as well.

Thanks in advance,

Eric

In such a case I would launch gpedit.msc and check each and every
item in there. There are quite a few of them!

Already did that. Everything in there says "Not
Configured"

The unit was just formatted a couple days ago but it was
not done by me.

I have no idea what they did but I do not feel like
starting again from scratch.

Any other ideas?

Talk to whoever "they" are.

Hi

Verify that the registry value DisableMSI under the key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer

is NOT set to 1 or 2 (if it doesn't exist, it will default to 0 for
WinXP or earlier)

If it is set to 1 or 2, change it to 0.

Tried calling them.

They are sick, so they aren't at work, and they will nto
give me their personal phone number.
