Here's some useful information and a link to the Hotfix:
1. For installing most games on Windows(r) XP, be sure to
use an account that is a member of the Administrators group.
2. If you are running Windows XP hotfix 328310 and attempt
to install a game you might receive this message from the installer:
"Attention XP users: Since you have Windows XP hotfix 328310
installed, please install Windows XP hotfix 329623 before installing".
Hotfix 329623 will fix a problem where the InstallShield would not
shut down properly after installing your game.
To download Windows XP hotfix 329623, go to:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329623 and click on the link in
the center of the page which reads: "Download the 329623 package now".
