Jonathan

Just installed The SimsDeluxe Edition. Installed fine,
no problems. Placed disk 1 back into the CD tray and
started the program. Flash screen appears, CD-ROM spins
and spins, lights flashing (both CD and HD) but still
nothing happens. Went to EA website to see if there was
a workaround for WinXP - there was some advice but it did
not help or really address the issue. Anybody get this
game to work? I would hate to just write this off as
$35.00 down the drain. I am running WinXP Pro SP1 with
all current updates - 512mb ram and 2.4ghz fs bus.

Thanks

Hi Jonathan,

Try installing and playing the game again but shut off
all other background programs by clicking "Disable all"
in the Startup tab using: Start / Run / msconfig

If you continue to have the same problems, I would try

a) Run the SETUP program from the CD and click PLAY
b) Contact EA and ask them for a patch, by explaining to
them that your game seems to fail the CD check process.

Hope that helps you get your Sims back together Jonathan! :-)
