What is the relationship btw screensaver & ADSL connection? Somehow when I
activated the screensaver, the ADSL connection will be interrupted. For
example, I set 5 mins. later to activate the screensaver, afterward the ADSL
connection will also interrupt. Those happened after I reinstall the system
few days ago. My operating system is XP Pro. SP3. ADSL connection direct from
modem to my computer, no router used, Many thz!

P.S.: I was tried 3 new modems to test about if the problem comes from
modem, but no matter how I change, the answer is same.

If the modem is USB then chances are the power saving option is kicking
in (similar problem can occurs with a number of different USB devices).

More often than not changing the setting under properties to not allow
the device to be put in low power mode will fix it.

Then do the same thing with the NIC. Here's my standard reply:

Open Device Manager, open the properties on your ethernet card, click
the Power tab, and deselect "Allow the computer to turn off this device
to save power".

You can do the same thing with a USB device by disabling the power
saving feature of all "USB Root Hub" entries.

Check other Power Options in Control Panel. Some PCs can be set to
"power down "soon" after the screen save kicks one. Some feature can
turn off power to XP devices.

Power down monitor, power down hard drive, system sleep, all set to NEVER,
this is the only way to solve I think.

I don't know what your screensaver software is capable of doing but if it
can select Stand By mode then the adsl connection will be disconnected.
