the page cannot be displayed IE6 XP Home

Farmer in the dell

IE 6 reports this for all attempts at browsing.

I can ping ip addresses, urls.

Can connect to AOL (via dsl) get AOL mail, but still get
same error.

Norton AV can perform it's live update.

Reinstalled IE following MKBA 318378 and 257249

Still no luck. Most other MKBA are for earlier IE and 9x

Forgot to add that in order to connect to the internet I
installed Opera and it is working fine.
